It is with both joy and sadness that we announce his retirement from private practice, effective March 26, 2025. Dr. Portwood has been a valued and essential member of our team for over 19 years, and his absence will be felt by patients, colleagues, and staff alike.

Glen Portwood, MD, is a board-certified physician at Carolina Digestive Health Associates, PA, a private medical practice with 13 locations in the greater Charlotte area, including: Belmont, Concord, Davidson, Matthews, Monroe, Huntersville, University, and Pineville, North Carolina.
Dr. Portwood sees patients at the Carolina Digestive Endoscopy Center in Charlotte, the Davidson office, Carolina Endoscopy Center in Huntersville, University office, and Carolina Endoscopy Center in University.
Dr. Portwood earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Virginia Hospitals in Charlottesville. He went on to complete his fellowship in gastroenterology at the Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina.
At Carolina Digestive Health Associates, PA, Dr. Portwood specializes in gastroenterology, hepatology, and pancreatic and biliary diseases. He is a member of both the American Medical Association and the American Gastroenterological Association.
When he’s not in the office, Dr. Portwood enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. His hobbies include basketball, jazz music, travel, and home projects.
